Discipline
The second part of
this class will include scenario-based exercises with the handler and
his/her dog participating in several situations challenging the
handler to make proper (and lawful) decisions related to the
deployment of the police service dog and the applicable use of force.
Each handler will write at least one (narrative) report regarding a
deployment made during one of the scenarios. Supervisors will
observe scenarios and/or participate as a backup officer and write at
least one report related to one of those deployments.
Each participant
will be required to provide two “K9 Use Reports” (or similar reports)
from two different types of actual K9 deployments, preferably written
by the participant, as well as the respective department K9 policy and
training logs. Some of these reports will be critiqued and shared
with the class.
The class is limited
to ten (10) K9 teams and ten (10) supervisors and officers/deputies
(without dogs). A K9 team is one handler and one dog.
Class fee $75.00 per
person
