Tactical K9 Deployments for Patrol

(16-24 hours*)

This advanced class is recommended for K9 handlers who want to incorporate and plan more proficient and safer tactical movements into their K9-related deployments with patrol and/or tactical teams. 

The class first begins without using police service dogs during the “Covert Movement” training and continues by incorporating the police service dogs into various tactical deployments.

The class is limited to ten (10) K9 teams and will include:

• Covert movement.

• Working with the police service dog in a tactical environment

• Planning the deployment

• Teamwork and responsibilities

• Tactical approaches and clearings

• Apprehensions and arrest techniques

• Long line deployment

Prerequisites: 

• The K9 team (handler and police service dog) should have been actively assigned to the streets for a minimum of six (6) months prior to the start of this class.

*The class will be only 16 hours for those officers who have previously completed the “Covert Movement” course.
