This class is
recommended for tactical teams who want to incorporate their agency’s
K9 team(s) into their deployments and be more comfortable and
tactically proficient when deploying with their K9 team(s).
The class will include:

Tactical approaches and clearings

Apprehensions and arrest techniques

Long line deployment

Live fire and diversionary devices (optional)
Prerequisites:
-
An assessment of the K9 team to determine suitability
for an assignment with SWAT. Not every K9
or K9 handler is suitable for work with SWAT.

“Covert Movement” or equivalent training.

The K9 team (handler and police service dog) should
be actively assigned to the streets as a team for a minimum of six
(6) months prior to the start of this class.

Recommended: Long line familiarity for K9 team(s).
Other:

This class is primarily designed to simultaneously
integrate or refamiliarize an entire team (up to 20 tactical
operators) with its K9 team(s). A larger team may require separate
classes. If a team has previously completed this course (or an
equivalent) and currently works with its K9 team(s), the class size
can be structured to accommodate newer team members and/or K9 team(s)
that have not previously received this training.
