OBJECTIVE

 

To train dogs and handlers in a clear, consistent and humane manner for Law Enforcement  and select private entities with an emphasis on Patrol and Detection.

 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Devoted the past twenty years to selection and training of highly successful Patrol, Detection and Civilian Competition dogs. Working closely with numerous agencies and private entities to develop and maintain quality K9 teams.

 

HIGHLIGHTS OF K9’S TESTED, SELECTED AND TRAINED

Ø       The following dogs were imported (except Dino, Kim Iwo) and trained at Gold Coast K9

Ø       Gold Coast K9 1st place in Narcotic Detection. Superstition Dog Club. Gilbert, Arizona 10/29/05.

Ø    Gold Coast K9 placed 1st & 2nd in a Narcotic Detection competition in Gilbert Arizona. Competitors were from California, Arizona and New Mexico 4/2/05

Ø       Officer Dan Casson of the Oxnard Police Department with K9 Levi, 1st place obedience and 2nd place obstacle course in the Las Vegas Tactical Competition 10/21/01.

Ø       Robert Wademan with Youri to NAPD National champion 10/3/2001

Ø       Robert Wademan with Kuy to NAPD national champion 10/3/2000

Ø       Officers  Eric Sonstegard & k9 Argos, Dan Casson & K9 Levi received 1st place in three of the five events at the Las Vegas tactical k9 competition in October, 2000 out of 43 teams from five western states earning 2nd place “Top Agency Award”

Ø       Officer Dan Casson and k9 Levi from the Oxnard Police Department received top dog at the Phoenix Police k9 Trials out of 41 teams competing in Phoenix, Arizona. February 18th and 19th 2000.

Ø       Officer Eric Sonstegard and k9 Argos from the Oxnard Police Department finished 2nd place overall out of 41 teams in the Phoenix Police k9 trials in Phoenix, Arizona on February 18th and 19th 2000.

Ø       Training director for National Association of Protection Dogs Club of the Year 2,000.

Ø       Robert Wademan and Kuy 1999 National Champion. National Association of Protection Dogs October 3, 1999 and October 1, 2000.

Ø       Robert Wademan and Youri 1st place Pro k9 national Championships in El Paso, Texas September 25,1999.

Ø       Officer Mike Robison and k9 Dino from the Oxnard Police Department received top dog in the Phoenix Police k9 Trials in Phoenix, Arizona on February 20, 1999.

Ø       Oxnard Police Department wins Top Agency two (2) years in a row at the Phoenix Police K9 Trials in Phoenix, Arizona. 1999 and 2000.

Ø       Officer Mike Robison and k9 Dino from the Oxnard Police Department received Top Dog at the Corona Police Departments Tactical K9 Competition in Corona, California on October 23, 1998.

Ø       Robert Wademan with Youri 1st place, Julie Iles and Fedor 2nd place and Robert Wademan and Kuy 3rd place out of 47 teams in the National Association of Protection Dogs National Championships in Rio Vista, California on October 3, 1998.

Ø       Nancy Alaniz and k9 Kim from the Ventura County Sheriffs Department attain Schutzhund 3 on July 28, 1995 and DPO 2 on April 14, 1996. ( did not import).

Ø       Officer Jim Beautrow and K9 Iwo from the Ventura Police Department attained the title WPO in the United Schutzhund Clubs of America National Championships in Sacramento, Ca. In 1992. (did not import).

Ø       Have trained many other teams to receive titles in a variety of sports.

Ø       Only 21 teams in the country that have National Association of Protection Dog titles. I have trained Five (5) of those teams to eleven (11) titles as of June 23rd, 2000.

TRAINING/WORK HISTORY

Ø       Gold Coast K9, Owner and Training Coordinator, I began training working dogs in 1985, and started Gold Coast K9 in 1990, where I am directly involved in the training of police service dogs in patrol, narcotic and explosive detection, as well as selecting and importing dogs for executive protection and competition.

Ø       Oxnard (CA) Police Department K9 Training Coordinator (Sept 1997 to present):  responsible for evaluating cross-trained K9 teams and providing maintenance training as well as developing training plan for teams, coordinating weekly training, and working with K9 Sergeant and K9 Coordinator

Ø       Culver City (CA) Police Department K9 Training Coordinator (May 2001 to present)

Ø       Oxnard Union High School District (Ca) Narcotic Detection Searches (July 2002 to Present)

Ø       Oxnard Unified School District (Ca) Narcotic Detection Searches (August 2005 to present)

Ø       Gold Coast Working Dog Association Training Coordinator (February 1997 to present)

Ø       Anacapa Schutzhund Club Training Director (March 1995 to January 1997)

Ø      Ventura County Schutzhund Club Training Director (April 1989 to June 1994)

Ø       Conducted over 60 narcotic detection searches at the California Rehabilitation Center and Chino Institute for Women in Chino, California.

Ø       Conducted over 300 narcotic detection searches for the Oxnard Union School District. 

Ø      Conducted over 100 K9 explosive detection searches at Fox Studios, CBS Studios, Fox Plaza, Tiger Woods Foundation, House of Blues, X Files, The Practice, Ally McBeal, Boston Public and for the following Hollywood/Los Angeles movie premieres:  Ali, A Beautiful Mind, Charlette Grey, Joe Somebody, Shipping News, Magestic, Oceans 11, Black Knight, 13 Ghost, K Pax, Cross Roads, Harts War.

Ø     Have attended numerous dog-related training sessions and seminars conducted by the following persons;  Dean Calderon, Manfred Schultz, Warner Schroll, Eugene Ecker, Helmut Raiser, Lee Pulis, Gene England, Gary Hanrahan, Willie Ortner, Dominique Rischman, Nico Poen, Wolfgang Raider, Tom Mitchell, Lance Collins, Margrit Van Dorse, Willi Patten, Gottfried Dildei, David Deleissegus, Bill Szentmiklosi, Glen Stephenson, Mike Caputo, Frank Mensing, Johannese Grewe, Hans Jurgen Freitag, Bernhard Stermer, Rick Wolterbek, Sgt. Burt Quick, and Luc Meirsohn.

Ø       Qualified for the United Schutzhund Clubs of America Gold Sports Medal.

Ø       Received 100 point tracking scores with “Tino” in 1995 and “Vita” in 1996.

Ø       Qualified for the United States team in Schutzhund 2 with “Jack” on 11-9-96.

Ø       Selected for “helper work” in 1990 at the Schutzhund Regional Championship for California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah.

Ø     Qualified to be a Certified Teaching Helper for United Schutzhund Clubs of America.
